- Terms for applicants:According to Article 7 of Regulations for Conducting Visits via Communication Devices in Prisons and Detention Centers:
- It is inconvenient for family members or nearest relatives to visit an inmate in the authority.
- It is inconvenient for a lawyer or attorney to visit an inmate in the authority;
- Due to any of the following circumstances, it is inconvenient for any individual other than those specified in the preceding two subparagraphs to visit an inmate in the authority, but they are in urgent need to contact the inmate:
- The individual is aged 65 or older or under the age of 12;
- The individual may be or is infected with the diseases defined in any subparagraph of Paragraph 1, Article 3 of the Communicable Disease Control Act, or suffers from the major illness and injury defined in the attached table for Paragraph 1, Article 2 of the Regulations Governing the Exemption of the National Health Insurance Beneficiaries from the Co-Payment, or has physical or mental disabilities;
- The individual or the property thereof suffers damage caused by the disasters defined in Subparagraph 1, Article 2 of the Disaster Prevention and Protection Act;
- The individual requests a visit because any of the inmate’s family member or nearest relative is deceased or in a life-threatening situation;
- The individual is one of the diplomatic and consular personnel from the inmate’s country or region or one of the personnel that may represent the inmate’s country or region;
- Other circumstances deemed major or extraordinary by the authority
- Meeting times and frequencies:
- Distance Meetings: i. Weekdays from Monday to Friday from14:00 to 16:30 P.M., divided into 5 periods, 30 minutes each time. ii. Only 2 people are allowed in a meeting.
- Video visitation: i. Weekdays from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 11:30 A.M. and 14:00 to 16:30 P.M., divided into 10 periods, 25 minutes each time. ii. Only 3 people are allowed in a meeting.
- Telephone: The request of a visit based on actual needs.
- An inmate may conduct visits via communication devices twice per month. Nevertheless, the authority may increase or decrease the frequency if it deems necessary to do so due to the venue, devices, or other conditions.
- Application procedure:

- Filling out The Application Form for Video Visitation: please get the application form from our reception room, or the nearby correction institution, or download the form from the website of the Ministry of Justice.
- Please attach copies of the following documents: an ID card, family member document or residence document for proving personal identity.
- Mailing or faxing the application form: Please prepare the above-mentioned documents, and mail them in a registered letter or fax it to our prison.
- Wait for the notice: We will phone, mail or fax to applicants the result of our examination.
- Please bring your document to the nearby correction institution to apply for a Video Visitation: The applicant, according to the informed date and time, goes to the nearby correction institution with a document to prove his or her personal identity. Then he/she fills out a registration form. After examining personal identity, he/she can have a Video Visitation with our inmates. vi. You can make an appointment at http://service.mjac.moj.gov.tw.

- Please attach copies of the following documents: an ID card, family member document or residence document for proving personal identity.
- iApplicants who are unable to conduct an interview on the scheduled date and time, or through the designated communication method, should cancel the appointment by phone, on the website or by other appropriate methods no later than 15:00 on the day before the scheduled interview date.
- The individual has failed to conduct visits according to the time and means of communication appointed by the authority 3 times or more over the past 6 months, and the authority may reject his/her application within 3 months from the day of the most recent unfulfilled visit.
- The inmate expresses his/her refusal to meet the individual, the authority may reject the application
