Taking leave for mourning of a family member

  1. An inmate may, safeguarded by the prison officer, take leave to go home and mourn his/her grandparents, parents, spouse’s parents, spouse, children or siblings.
  2. Required documents:
    1. The application and an affidavit;
    2. Copies of both sides of the ROC ID cards for the applicant and guarantor;
    3. The original copy of the death certificate;
    4. Documentations proving the relationship between the deceased and the inmate (e.g. ROC ID card or Household Certificate); and
    5. The obituary

Taking leave for visiting terminally ill family member

  1. An inmate may, with the permission of the Ministry of Justice, take leave to go home and visit his/her grandparents, parents, spouse’s parents, spouse, children or siblings who are terminally ill. The regulations set out in the preceding section shall apply mutatis mutandis.
  2. Required documents:
    1. The application and an affidavit;
    2. Copies of both sides of the ROC ID cards for the applicant and guarantor;
    3. The original copy of the Terminally Ill Notice issued within three days;
    4. The original copy of the Diagnosis Certificate; and
    5.  Documentations proving the relationship between the person in critical condition and the inmate (e.g. ROC ID card or Household Certificate).

Other types of custodians are required by law and by letter,the inmate needs to obey prceding vegulations.
